Autumn Excursions
We are one of only two operators with exclusive permit access to the entire Churchill Wildlife Management Area (CWMA), offering unparalleled opportunities for wildlife viewing. Frontiers North has access to polar bear hotspots in the CWMA such as Gordon Point, Polar Bear Point, and 4 km of coastal trails that polar bears are known to frequent as they await the return of the sea ice. During October and November, guests can enjoy full eight-hour days exploring the tundra aboard a Tundra Buggy, searching for wild polar bears and other subarctic wildlife in their natural habitat.

Summer Excursions
In the summer months, the tundra bursts to life with blooming flora and the return of migratory wildlife. A Tundra Buggy adventure is the best way to take in the scenic landscape while searching for wildlife such as caribou, polar bears, arctic foxes, and the hundreds of bird species that return each year.
Spend six hours on the tundra with expert interpretation from experienced staff, learning about the diverse flora and fauna that call the Churchill Wildlife Management Area home.

Winter Excursions
In the winter evenings, silently navigate the frozen Churchill River in a Tundra Buggy to reach exclusive northern lights viewing locations, far from the lights of town for optimal aurora visibility—available only through Frontiers North Adventures.
By day, use the Tundra Buggy to access snowshoeing locations and enjoy the chance to stop and explore looming ice hummocks.
Going Electric In The Subarctic
In August 2021, Frontiers North, in collaboration with Red River College’s Vehicle Technology & Energy Centre and with support from the Vehicle Technology Centre, unveiled the first zero-emission Electric Vehicle Tundra Buggy—the most advanced and sustainable vehicle on the tundra.
