While there is no certain guarantee, as the northern lights are a naturally occurring phenomenon, Churchill, Manitoba offers some of the best chances for viewing them. Situated directly beneath the auroral oval, Churchill is in a prime spot for northern lights activity. The months of February and March provide the best odds of clear skies, with cold temperatures and long dark nights—essential elements for those looking to maximize their chances of spotting the aurora.
While the aurora is a natural phenomenon and can’t be guaranteed, Churchill sits directly beneath the Auroral Oval—making it one of the best places on Earth to witness the northern lights. Guests have the greatest chance of seeing them during the peak viewing season in February and March.
Each night, you’ll travel to a unique viewing location, far from the lights of town. The time spent at each site depends on the activity of the aurora, and when the group feels ready to wrap up, we make that decision together.
